My week with Marilyn: First Shots of Michelle Williams as Monroe

Posted on 6:23 AM by follow me

The first official publicity picture of Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe was released over the weekend. Did you see it? Williams is portraying Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn, a film about the making of The Prince and the Showgirl, starring both Monroe and Laurence Olivier. The film is based upon the memoirs of Colin Clark, an assistant on the 1957 production.

My Week with Marilyn chronicles a week in the life of Marilyn Monroe in which she escapes the shackles of Olivier and embraces British life with Colin Clark. Clark's original diary accounts were published as "The Prince, the Showgirl and Me", but one week was left out and went unpublished. The missing week is : My week with Marilyn Monroe.

The film also stars Kenneth Branagh as Laurence Olivier, Eddie Redmayne as Colin Clark and Judi Dench as Dame Sybil Thorndike. The supporting cast includes Dominic Cooper, Zoe Wanamaker, Simon Russell Beale and Emma Watson, in her first role since Harry Potter.

I heard rumours that Scarlett, Eva and many other Hollywood Starlets were up for the part of Monroe, but seeing this picture of Michelle Williams I am thrilled about the final choice. I think she is an excellent actress and will be a wonderful Marilyn Monroe.
What do you think? Has your mind changed now you have seen the picture if Williams as Monroe?
