Badgley Mischka finds Glamour in the 70s for New York Fashion Week!

Finally some glamour at New York Fashion Week! Mark Badgley and James Mischka glamour-ise every season and their spring summer 2011 collection is no different.
The Badgley Mischka show was full of flowing fabrics, dropped waists, ruffles, jewels and layers. The collection is pretty, feminine and full of candy floss shades of colour. I love the sky blue dress pictured above - although it looks more 1930s inspired? The design duo also had the 70s uniform of high waisted trousers, sheer blouses and of course the large pin wheel hat for extra 70s drama!

The inspiration for the collection was the 1987 movie "White Mischief" starring Greta Scacchi. The film is about a woman visiting Kenya and finding romance and adventure in the 40s. "The clothes in that movie could have stepped off the screen and onto our runway," said Badgley.

Looks like the seventies is the era of choice and inspiration for SS11 for New York Fashion Week...not an easy trend to pull off, but I look forward to seeing what the high street will have to offer us come spring.
