London Fashion Week: Orla Kiely A/W 2010 Collection

Posted on 6:56 AM by follow me

If like me you love all things kitsch, retro and vintage than you will love the 2010 autumn and winter collection by designer, Orla Kiely. London Fashion Week is now in full swing, but no other designer other then Orla has made me want to start saving all my pennies to buy a whole collection.
I am used to seeing the odd dress or bag that I bookmark, but Kiely’s collection looks chic and casual at the same time which means a lot of her clothing is wearable in a gals’ everyday life. I think this is the true test of a fantastic collection. I don’t know about you but I am not going to spend over £100 on a dress only to wear on “special occasions”?!
Orla Kiely had a showroom in London’s Somerset House and the space had been decorated with Orla Kiely’s large leaf prints on the walls and the furniture had also been upholstered in OK’s trademark graphic. The theme was very 1950s...early sixties. Teak cabinets, Kelly handbags, retro telephones and vintage furniture.
The collection is full of colour and whilst I am not normally of a fan of “its autumn lets dress like a season changing leaf” I am actually really looking forward to the mustards and chestnut brown palette. Lots of tweed and velvet were seen. Orla Kiely has created a truly fashionable collection full of stunning prints, colours and luxurious textures. The collection reminds me of Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s baby...very sixties inspired with shift dresses, Mod coats with peter pan collars with large gold buttons.
I realise now that I am gushing, but it really is a girly and chic collection and well...see for yourself from the pictures. I have spotted at least two dresses, a cape and a handbag that I want. Best start saving those pennies...
