Vintage at Goodwood - Goodwood Revival 2009

Posted on 2:39 AM by follow me

I have finally....only just come down from the vintage high that was Goodwood Revival 2009. The joke is I only went on the Saturday, the event spans over three days! So on Saturday 19th September, I discovered that the snooze button is in fact my enemy and that it had only given me 30 mins to turn myself into a 1950s vintage vision. Not an easy mission when your eyes are half open and you are fighting serious bedhead.
I wanted to look Betty Draper cool so I wore a hot pink 1950s shirt dress from Natasha Bailie Vintage Clothing Company of course along with What Katie Did nylon stockings, blue nylon gloves bought from Ebay, matching blue High heels from Etsy and a cream 1950s Kelly bag from a local vintage shop in Brighton. I dressed my hair in a simple twisted ponytail as I had planned to recreate my drab hair do at Nina's Hair Parlour on the Goodwood Site, but I never found the parlour so I embraced the pony tail. See what you think?
I went along with my Husband and Mr and Mrs.P to Goodwood Revival where we had Grandstand tickets...the best in the place! (Very Lucky) We saw classic cars being polished and pruned and then zooming straight past us on the famous Goodwood Racecourse. Sterling Moss has just turned 80 years old but he was still driving when the fabulous motorcars were being paraded before the races. The vintage markets were incredible and a sight for vintage eyes..furs, hats, dresses, shoes, luggage, stockings...everything you could think of it was there and available to buy.
This year Goodwood was also launching "Vintage at Goodwood" an amazing vintage event in August 2010. Where the site shall be turned into mini high streets according to different eras, there will be fabulous vintage fashion and clothing along with vintage music and dancing. Whats not to look forward to?
The "Vintage at Goodwood" launch area was full of buzz when we got there...it could of been encouraged by the Veuve Cliquot tent? As soon as we arrived there was a dance floor where people were swinging and jiving along to a great live band. This is when I met the lovely Fleur De Guerre who was just about to do her second fashion show of the day.

After Fleur Mrs.P and I sat in a waltzer booth to watch some very pink burlesque which was then followed by a band who's frontman could of been Johnny Cash. So when he sang "Get Rhythm" you will understand that I was more than a little excited! If that was not enough everyone was dressed from the 40s, 50s and 60s. There were RAF pilots and Land Army Girls strolling round the place. There were chaps and sweethearts and even one nazi! I was so impressed with the effort that people had made for this three day event. I am already planning my outfit for Goodwood Revival 2010.
