Old Friends

Posted on 7:45 AM by follow me

Hey there friends. I'm still here getting sicker by the day, it seems. Sweet Hubby hopped on a plane and got out of dodge as soon as I announced I wasn't feeling well. He claims to have meetings in Alabama this week but I think you and I both know better. So congratulations Big Guy, you won round one, but when you come crawling home on Friday sick as a dog, I'll be too busy feeling good to take care of you.

So since I've no one to take care of me (insert "awwww" here), I'm spending time with some old friends. The first is a little treat my Mom always made me when I was ill. It was lovingly referred to as Sick Toast. It has powerful medicinal qualities. We got this special treat only when we were sick & I'm not sure, but I think it's because of all of the hard work that goes into making it. See if you can follow me: toast 2 pieces of bread, butter bread, stack 2 slices of toast together, cut in half horizontally and wait, here is the most important step, cut the halves in half vertically giving you 4 stacks of toast. Whew. I'm tired just thinking about it. Now, I'll tell you that the powers of Sick Toast are lessened when you are forced to make it for yourself (insert another "awwww" here) but it is better than nothing.

Next I want to introduce you to another old friend, Country Home May 2002. I reach for this magazine time & again & stare longingly at it's contents. I've actually owned 2 copies, the first I cut to shreds for my inspiration books and the 2nd I've left whole so that I might have access to it, in it's entirety, whenever I need to. I should probably get a third copy to keep in a safe deposit box with my other important papers.

Enjoy this sneak peek but if you come across a copy in your adventures, don't hesitate to buy it.

Yummy, isn't it? Now, speaking of friends, it seems I've made a new one. I had an email this morning from Beth at Memory Makers Magazine who mentioned my blog on her newest post. I was so wowed! Thank you Beth. I'm honored to be in such great company with the other blogs you mentioned and I'm so glad to have you as a regular reader. You made this sick girl's day!

Oh and one more thing. For all of you emailing me about the button pushpins, the directions are almost as difficult as the Sick Toast. Take a plain white pushpin, attach button with hot glue, stick in bulletin board. Good luck with that. Also, I adore the Bag 'O Buttons from Autumn Leaves. I get them at my local Archivers store and have probably bought every variety by now.
