*Our Day Out*
Posted on 5:33 AM by follow me
Well we never actually got around to going to Whitby yesterday as we had an un-expected guest on the morning, a friend popped round and so it was after 11.30am when we finally got going, so we decided to pop over to *Masham* in lower Wensleydale and have a spot of lunch!!! Masham is a lovely little place which has honesty boxes for the car parking fees, how lovely is that?
We also wanted to visit this junk/antique place that we have been to before, but unfortunately it was closed! It is one of those places that are just filled to the brim with all sorts of old goodies to have a good rummage through. Everything was still outside though, so I took these few photos!
We also pressed our noses up to this old fashioned sweety shop window, a lovely little shop in the market square called Bah Humbugs, you can visit their website *here*!
So after having a good wander around which included the lovely church yard, we stopped off at *The Kings Head Hotel* for some lunch, it is a lovely place and the lunch was sooooo delicious! I had a huge big rustic cranberry & bree wholemeal baguette and a glass of white wine, mmmmmmm!
After another walk about which included a visit to a bakery shop for some goodies (eek!) we then drove onto Jervaulx Abbey, which is a lovely ruined Abby which is in fact privately owned and so you walk through a lovely field which is filled with sheep and little lambs wandering about & pass a beautiful country home and then enter the Abby's grounds. It is such a wonderful place, it is really quite big and so has lots of ruins to walk about and explore and is a lovely place to take a picnic basket and a rug in the summer. Because it is privately owned the gardens are kept lovely and there isn't an entrance fee just another honesty box again. There is also a Tea Rooms and little Garden shop where you park, that you can visit whilst there too!
So all in all we both had a lovely relaxing day out, just what we needed.
