What's The Big Idea...
Posted on 8:48 AM by follow me
Freedom...that was the Framers', big idea.
Sounds good in theory, but always exacts a price.
Barefoot and freezing at Valley Forge, the paid the
price. The grand experiment of "independence" was a
costly one. If you want to be humbled, you should read
the account of what happened to the men, and their
families, who said "Give me liberty, or give me death!"
and signed the Declaration...for most of them, death is
just what they got...we are the one who received the liberty.
Today we celebrate the "declaration" of our independence,
which wasn't the signing of a treaty at the end of a war,
it was the shot across the bow, declaring our intention to
live as free men in a free country.
Where do men like this come from? Who will put their
money where their mouth is and why have we been so
blessed to have been preceded by so many.
Happy Birthday United States of America!!!
I not only realize how blessed I am to have been born
here, but I am very proud to call the USA my home
and to enjoy the freedoms that people I never knew
were willing to die for.
And very proud that they were not only willing to fight
for the freedom of "their fellow Americans", but also for
"their fellow man".
