Jollity
Posted on 5:48 PM by follow me
This is the vacation journal I worked on while at the lake with Cammy this summer. The word jollity completely captures the feelings of that week. I think it will become part of my personal mantra.
This journal was made from a brochure from Smith and Hawken that I covered with magazine pictures, papers, ephemera and whatever embellishments I could find. We got the idea from Pam Garrison when she did something similar.
This is what I worked on every morning and evening while sitting at the table with Cammy.
I've always wanted to journal but I somehow couldn't ever do it. This was a big step for me.
I felt really brave creating this and even more brave for sharing it with you. It feels like such a personal thing to me.
I feel like I have really grown as an artist this past year. Even calling myself an artist never felt right before, like with out having formal training or earning a living from things I make, I had no right.
Now I realize that artist is a state of mind and that's a place I'm happy to reside.
I hope you all will find your inner artist too. She really wants to come out and play.
Here is the inside of the journal all opened up.
and here is the back. It makes me happy every single time I look at it.
Hope your weekend is filled with jollity.
