  • The original lock is called the Mademoiselle Lock. Coco Chanel never linked the ‘CC’ lock. The ‘CC’ lock was only linked by Karl Lagerfeld in the 1980s.
  • The ‘2.55’ Chanel is a reissue of the classic Chanel 1.55 first released in February of 1955.
  • Coco Chanel grew up in an orphanage/convent and the double chain shoulder strap we have come to know as the classic Chanel strap actually comes from when the convents caretakers would dangle keys from their waists with the same design.
  • The brownish red color of the inside represents the color of Coco and the children’s uniforms in her convent.
  • The nuns in Coco’s convent wore black habits with white trims, which we have come to recognize as classic Chanel packaging design.
  • The back flap on the outside of the bag is where Coco Chanel would collect her extra cash and change.
  • The zipped compartment on the inside of the front flap is where Coco kept her love letters.
Found lots of fun facts and information on purseblogs.
