You'll never see these ads AGAIN!

You know those sometimes funny forwards you get in your inbox? Finally a funny one came my way from a great friend who clearly "gets me." None of that bad luck, good luck mumbo jumbo, but these hilarious vintage advertisements that would never pass for PC these days. Check them out and tell me which one is your favourite by leaving me a comment below.

I love the "More Doctors smoke Camel cigarettes" ad. So very Mad Men.

Betty Draper Barbie...yes please.

Mad Men's Don Draper, Betty Draper, Joan Holloway and Roger Sterling have been immortalised in plastic by Mattel, who has created Barbie and Ken doll versions of the television characters. Playing house has never looked so good!

I am 25...is that an ok age to start playing house with my barbies...again. Ehem. If I was still living at home my dad would make me buy these and never let me play with them. (Stoopid collector's items). My sister and I had all the spice girl dolls...which we had to keep in the box with all their accessories "just incase they were worth something later on". (No thanks to Geri).
Mattels Mad Men dolls come complete with vintage clothing and accessories, but for obvious reasons the dolls are based on just the characters looks. Not a wandering eye, hand, martini glass or cigarette in sight!
The new dolls will be priced just under £50 ($75) and can be ordered online at amctv.com or barbiecollector.com
So what are you waiting for....I have my eye on a Betty and a Don...they will love eachother forever in my story and Don will never cheat and Betty will never kiss other men...what a life. There will always be martinis though...always.

Mad Men Vs The Hour

Mad Men

The Hour

I think TV is about to get interesting....

I am in Singapore and not even I can escape the lure of another vintage style drama set in 1950s Britain.
The Hour looks set to be a great BBC drama with Hollywood heavyweights like Dominic West (The Wire) leading the cast, what can go wrong?
Of course you simply cannot mention the 50s without Mad Men coming up into conversation, it seems Mad Men has become the "50s" which is crazy as it is set in 1960, based in a Manhattan ad agency and features housewives who look like they are stepping onto a catwalk not a kitchen. Whereas The Hour is set in the UK, set in 1956 when rationing was dying out, based in a TV news station and features women who ARE trying to work in a man's world. Confused?

Mad Men

The Hour

Too similar? Can't wait? I will definitely try and watch - mainly for the fashion and accessories, but hopefully I shall stay for the drama, cast and authenticity to the era. You know they have only just begun filming series 5 of Mad Men, we may as well enjoy ourselves whilst we wait no?

Don Draper or Hector Madden?

Don't make me choose...

Pan Am to Rival Mad Men?

Are you getting excited for the TV series "Pan Am?" Pan Am is the Sony produced drama that is airing this Fall on ABC. Set to rival shows like "Mad Men" and "Boardwalk Empire."

Pan Am is the 1960s - set drama that revolves around the pilots and flight attendants of the once iconic airline. When being an Air Stewardess was one of the most glamorous occupations. It was a time when air stewardesses were proud to welcome passengers on board and when passengers were proud to travel. Expect lots of girdles, cheeky passenger requests, crew gossip, secrets and inflight entertainment.

The show will feature many familiar faces including Margot Robbie (neighbours), Michael Mosley (Scrubs) and star Christina Ricci (Mermaids, Addams Family.)

Christina Ricci was photographed filming for the show in Manhattan this past week wearing a bright prom dress. The cast and crew of Pan Am are being spotted everywhere this month as they film on location for the show. What do you think? Will you be watching?

Christina Hendricks Breasts - I don't know how she does it!

You have probably seen the pics, laughed at the tweets, shed a small tear for SJP and even looked down at your own girls and wondered how does Christina Hendricks do it? How does she upstage every other star on the red carpet with her fabulous assets.

Wearing a Vivienne Westwood dress at the premiere for her new movie "I don't know how she does it" alongside leading lady and fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker, Hendricks bosom is THE thing everyone is talking about. I just hope the movie is as good as that VW dress support.

Mad Men on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine

The world is finally realising how great Mad Men is! LOVE this Mad Men cover. Visit the Rolling Stone website to see some snippets of the Jon Hamm interview and some handsome shots from behind the scenes of Mad Men. I told you so.

Mad Men Nail Polish

You all know by now I have had Mad Men fever since the show started in 2007. I spread the word wherever I go and I have occasionally been known to stop talking to someone who has not seen the show. I mean it is the best thing since sliced bread for gawds sake!
Since the show began the fever of Mad Men has been spreading like a wild fire and I am here to announce it has now reached epidemic proportions. With a Barbie doll range, a QVC fashion line, a Banana Republic inspired collection Janie Bryant is the queen of multi tasking and branding.
Janie Bryant is the costume designer behind Mad Men and she is fast becoming the spokesperson for the show. Bryant is the woman who we depend upon to create and ensure Mad Men is authentic and as accuarte as possible to the era and characters. If this seasons catwalk trends are anything to go by, Janie is now the woman we depend on to inspire our very own wardrobes. Everyone wants a piece of Mad Men! Who can argue with Louis Vuitton and Prada?
Janie Bryant somehow seems to still find time on her hands as she has collaboarated with the nail polish brand Nailtini to create a collection of four limited edition nail shades inspired by Mad Men. Bryant says she was inspired by the fabrics of the era, velvet, satins, and lamé. The fabrics that go in to make a glamorous cocktail dress. The colours will be; Bourbon Satin, French 75, Deauville and Stinger. The shades will include browns, golds, a platinum and an iridescent.
The bad news is these shades will only be available in the US. Although I have heard on the grapevine nail polish brand; Essie are thinking of producing a Mad Men collection? Yet to be confirmed, but if you know anything please tell me!

The Trudy & Pete Campbell dance! Another reason to watch Mad Men...

This is another reason why I love Trudy Campbell and why you should really be watching Mad Men!

Mad Men Series 3!

I am so freakin excited about the brand spanking new series of Mad Men. Season three airs in the USA on August 16th which means UK eyes only have a little wait before the vintage spectacular UK premiere! If you have not seen it then I demand to know why? and what the hell you are going to do about it? Its a great series set in the early 60s, Kennedy is president, ad men rule manhattan and women are beautiful. You can watch this awesome series and actually say "Im glad they still make them like this!" It is full of great characters, plotlines and the writing is smart and true to the era. Not only that the show is a great place to get vintage inspiration. The costumes are amazing especially the women characters. Click here to have a nosey in Mad Mens Costume Closet.

There are some great Mad Men videos on amctv website and lots of videos with everything you will or want to know about the series including cast interviews and behind the scene footage. There is even a video of how they created the season 3 promo poster.

It looks like season three of Mad Men might be the best yet (unbelievable I know) and Don Draper looks to be in the deep end!

Trudy Campbell's Vintage Style has caught my eye...

Now you know I love Betty Draper, but whilst Betty is with bump I have been looking else where for my vintage prom dress fix and this is when I noticed Mrs.Trudy Campbell. Pete Campbell's wife. She wears vintage hats and pill boxes, prom dresses and boxy jackets to match. Trudy Campbell is Mad Men's very own Jackie Onassis/Kennedy. Not only has Trudy got the neat and chic style down, but she supports her husband through the insecure times and toasts him through the good times. Like any good housewife, but Trudy comes from money and she knows a little something, something. Trudy is strong and she has a prom dress for every day of the week. I cannot wait to see how Trudy and her style evolve through the series, especially as Mad Men are approaching the sixties. All hail Trudy Campbell!

1950s Vintage Floral Prom Dress, size 12/14, £95 - Just Added!

Just Added to Natasha Bailie Vintage Clothing Company:

Spring is here...in the shape of a 1950s floral prom dress. I found this vintage prom dress in early january and have been waiting very patiently by my front door for a good week now. With all the snow my village has had in the past two weeks my poor postie has been either slow or non existent. (He seems to wear shorts all year round so I don't blame him!) BUT...today...which is a Sunday...my postie rang my bell to deliver me this vintage dress. This Sunday has also been the first time I have seen green grass (snow has melted) and sunshine in 2010. H-A-P-P-Y.
So I announce that it is spring. Even if it isn't I shall just look at this vintage prom dress in days of grey and gloom for it is bright, bold and covered from shoulder to hem in flowers!

This is an original 1950s cocktail dress and will be perfect for any Betty! Perfect for drinks with Don Draper. For a closer peek at this 50s prom dress CLICK ME!
